Procedure for Portrait Commissions |

1. The first step towards creation of a portrait is a consultation during which we discuss the style of the portrait you want and other specifics. 2. Photographic session. The first sitting takes place during a photographic session with the subject at the subject's home or other location. This sitting may take anywhere from one to three hours. 3. Review of the photographs. Considering the style, mood, setting, composition and other factors we have discussed, I will choose the ones I feel will make the best portrait. From these, the patron will help select the photograph(s) which best captures the subject's likeness, personality, and style of the portrait. If necessary, we will have a second sitting before I leave your location. |

4. I will complete a graphite study of the subject’s likeness. This study will be sent or a photo emailed to the patron for approval. The portrait is then started. 5. If possible, the subject comes to the studio for viewing of the final portrait. Most of the time, there will be only slight changes to the painting or none at all, and the patron will take the painting with him at this time. Otherwise, if the patron cannot come to the studio, a photograph of the portrait will be sent to the patron for approval. On approval, final payment and shipping charges are collected for the portrait and then it is crated and shipped to the patron.

The following fees are for basic portraits-one person with a simple
background. The pose and size
of the subject will help determine the final size of the portrait.
The type of pose will determine the final format of the portrait
(for example, standing or sitting).

Other
sizes are available upon request. There is a 15% discount for group
portraits. Additions to the painting: animals and elaborate backgrounds
start at an extra 10% to 25%.
PORTRAIT
FEES: The fee for the portrait is usually divided into three parts: a 10%
deposit is due upon commissioning. Forty percent of the balance is
collected at the photographic sitting along with any charges for travel.
Upon approval of the completed portrait, the remaining balance is due.
Travel charges are based upon the costs of transportation, mileage, and
lodging, if necessary. If I come for more than one client in one area, the
cost of the travel is divided between them. The only other charge would be
for shipping and insurance for the portrait for out of town patrons.
